London is a large city, so you will be able to find many great activities to do based on where you are visiting. London is essentially many diverse towns which are directly joined together, but there are some definite highlights:

Camden – Despite not being particularly visually attractive, Camden Town still manages to huge numbers of visitors. It is popular because of its vibrant market and underground music scene. You may never again find the variety of products available all in one location, one of the reasons some 100,000 people go to this market every weekend.

Covent Garden & The Strand – Host to a mixture of theatres, hotels and shops, the Strand, which is a wide street that runs from Trafalgar Square towards the City, is invariably thronged with people and vehicles. Off the Strand you will find Covent Garden which is filled with street entertainers like mimes, dancers and magicians, as well as with charming bars and cafes.

Chelsea – Fashionable shops, antique stores, and cute houses from the 18th and 19th centuries all come together to create an extremely popular town to visit. Even the most jaded of shoppers will be kept entertained for hours in the main shopping area of King’s Road. Chelsea is also where the Premier League football champions, Chelsea FC, play.

Kensington – The ideal place for shoppers and royal watchers, you will find lots of shops (selling everything from clothing to home-wares to antiques) and the gates of Kensington Palace. If you have your heart set on viewing a royal while you are in London, this town is the best place to do so. But you will still see some great sights and snap some fantastic pictures here, even if you don’t see a royal family member.

Oxford Circus & Piccadilly Circus – Among the most iconic of all London’s sites and visited by millions of tourists every year. Piccadilly Circus is a rather untidy, busy place, but it is a central hub in the West End of London and a common meeting place. Oxford circus is the best entry point to Oxford Street, which is London’s main shopping district.

Soho & Leicester Square – Soho is a very lively London town where you are sure to find excellent bars and fabulous eateries. Leicester Square, situated adjacent to Soho, is well known for the UK films that premier there. Be sure to take your camera and autograph book along as there are often movie and TV stars who frequent these areas.

Westminster – This is the town out of which the UK government operates, and you can also find the popular Westminster Abbey here. You will feel fully immersed in the city’s rich history as you gaze upon important buildings from each street corner. Relive the days when the UK was at its most glorious with a walk around Westminster.
