The Travel Book Mini

A Travel Book Mini: A Journey Through Every Country In The World is truly that. This book has 217 maps covering 230 countries. All 888 pages are stocked with wonderful pictures that truly make you want to go out to visit these countries. There is information about each country (like the best time to visit New Zealand is from November to April), places you must see (in Qatar, that would be ancient fort at Al-Zubara), and media information about the places (listen to Dvorak who is from Czech to learn about that country). They also have summary called In A Word (Brrrr! for Greenland), trademarks (Morocco’s trademark is mint tea), and interesting information that would surprise you (For Iraq, the garden of Eden is said to be located here).

If you have kids, they will love this book.  My 4 and 1 year old like to flip through it.  They make up stories about the pictures for us.  This book would also make an excellent geography lesson for us all (but I can definitely see it being used by homeschoolers!).  That being said, this book is great for travelers of any age.

The 1st Annual “Red Rock Canvas” event will be held the weekend of November 7-9 in Sedona, Arizona. It is being presented by the Sedona Gallery Association. The entire city will come alive with art events beginning with receptions Friday evening, November 7th from 5-8 at every SGA gallery.  Events, artist dialogues, tours, brunches, demonstrations, and more, will abound weekend long.  Special activities and accommodation packages allow visitors to fully customize their weekend with wine tastings, spa or adventure packages and more.

Actress/Artist Jane Seymour, spokesperson for one of the Gala’s beneficiaries, Camp Soaring Eagle, will be in attendance to share news of the camp being constructed in the nearby Village of Oak Creek; the camp aspires to become a member of Paul Newman’s internationally acclaimed “Hole in the Wall Camps.” Human Nature Dance Theatre is another beneficiary; they perform throughout Northern Arizona integrating live music, spoken word and dramatic light effects with movement to create a most unique experience.  The Gala’s Honoree, John Waddell, has been active in the Arizona arts for over fifty years.  Best known for bronze sculptures of female nudes in motion, Waddell has public works on display from California to New York, with many in prominent locations in Phoenix, Arizona.  Tours of his studio and vast sculpture garden will be available on Sunday, November 9th.  Waddell’s life-size and greater than life-size sculptures, noted for their grace and realism, are each a celebration of how great a human being can be.

The “Red Rock Canvas” weekend will celebrate the stimulating Sedona gallery and fine arts scene.  Sponsors of this event are:  City of Sedona, Sedona Chamber of Commerce, Sedona Magazine, Sedona Monthly, Sedona NOW Network, Red Rock TV, Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa, St. Francis Winery and Vineyards, CoolSedona.com and Corporate Sponsor Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village.  For Gala tickets, tour tickets and event details:  info@sedonagalleryassociation.com or www.redrockcanvas.com
