Mexican Independence Day
Chicago’s Mexican community hits the streets mid-September for parades celebrating Mexican Independence Day. On Saturday, September 12, the downtown parade begins at 11 AM and travels along Columbus Dr. from Balbo to Monroe. The Pilsen Mexican Independence Day Parade steps off at noon that day at 18th St. and S. Newberry Ave. On Sunday, September 13, the 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade marches along 26th St. between Albany and Kostner and begins at noon, the same time the South Chicago Mexican Independence Day Parade starts at 8700 S. Commercial Ave.
