Navy Pier Jun 27

With 50 acres of parks, promenades, entertainment, attractions, restaurants, shops, and more, it’s easy to see why historic Navy Pier is the top tourist destination in the Midwest!

The Pier’s most distinctive landmark is the 150-foot Ferris wheel. Step into one of 40 gondolas for an exciting seven-minute ride and unparalleled view of the skyline and lakefront. The Ferris wheel – which twinkles at night with thousands of lights – is in Pier Park, a landscaped area on the upper deck, along with a whimsical musical carousel, Wave Swinger lift-and-twirl ride, miniature golf course, remote control boats, and new Light Tower Hopper ride.

Twist and turn your way through Amazing Chicago’s Funhouse Maze. Ramp up your thrill level with a high-speed ride to the moon, Antarctica or other exciting spot via Transporter FX.

Two unique museums are at home on the Pier. Discover dozens of lively interactive exhibits such as BIG Backyard, Dinosaur Expedition, Inventing Lab, Kovler Family Climbing Schooner, WaterWays, Skyline and Treehouse Trails at Chicago Children’s Museum. Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows – first of its kind in the U.S. – showcases both secular and religious windows in Victorian, Prairie, Modern and Contemporary styles by such artists as Louis Comfort Tiffany and John LaFarge and Chicagoans Ed Paschke and Roger Brown.

Hundreds of free shows, concerts and special events for all ages raise the entertainment quotient. See blockbusters on Chicago’s largest flat movie screen at IMAX Theater. Hear the city’s hottest bands at the free admission Beer Garden where the party never stops Memorial Day through Labor Day. Enjoy world-class performers like the Cirque Shanghai acrobats.

Be dazzled by fireworks displays on summer Wednesday and Saturday nights. Or experience an unforgettable pleasure boat, Bike Chicago, or Segway tour which launches from Navy Pier.

Seven great restaurants plus food court and seasonal eateries offer dining options to suit every taste and budget. And find apparel, accessories, toys and games, gifts and collectibles, souvenirs, international goods, and more in sensational Pier shops.

Museum of Science and Industry May 18

What is the actual process behind making a toy? And what astounding innovations do visionaries believe will change the way we live and work in the future? Get the answers to these and other burning questions at two absorbing Museum of Science and Industry exhibits.

Discover the entire manufacturing process of creating a toy at Toymaker 3000: An Adventure in Automation. With eight interactive stations, 12 moving robots, and a 2000-square foot automated assembly line, this exhibit demonstrates how to make 300 toys per hour using Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) to streamline production from gathering the parts to assembling and even packaging the toys. Kids can watch their own gravitron toy top be constructed – complete with personalized name and custom color – and program robots to perform certain tasks or even dance.

Fast Forward..Inventing the Future – an “immersive multimedia exploration of how our future lives are being shaped today” – shows how some visionaries are working toward tomorrow. At this exhibit, you can learn about cuisine made by ink-jet printers, instant-messaged hugs you can feel, high-rise farming, and other amazing ideas from these inventors and test-drive some of their innovations yourself.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus Feb 17

l38-totalWho doesn’t love the circus?  It is that time of the year again, I have some great deals for all of my great readers who are wanting to take their kids to the greatest show on earth.  I’ll be honest — my kids haven’t been to the circus yet, so I am hoping we get a chance to do it this year. I can only imagine the looks on their faces — I know they will love it!  I still remember going to the circus as a kid, so it is definitely something they will always remember. They even have a program for the littlest ones.  Babies are able to get a free ticket voucher that can be used for any performance, anytime, and anywhere.  Even better, it has no expiration date.

Now, the circus can be a little pricey for families, so I have an awesome promo code that you can use to save yourself some of your hard earned money (which we all love to do in this economy).  If you use MOM when you check out your tickets from places like Ticketmaster, you are able to get 4 tickets for $44!  How great of a deal is that!  The offer is good on all performances and you must by at least 4 tickets.  Additional tickets above 4 can also be purchased at the $11 per ticket price.

There is also a select amount of Front Row and VIP seats that have been reserved for you to buy before they go on sale to the public – just enter the code “MOM” when purchasing those seats. Dates and cities where families can use the national MOM discount code this spring are as follows:
