The 639 acre Lake Bob Sandlin State Park is located along wooded banks and shore line of Lake Bob Sandlin in East Texas. The 9400 acre lake was once settled by the Caddoan people as far back as 200 B.C. who it is believed to have settled the land for it’s abundant wildlife, fishing, and trade.
During the late 1700s to early 1800s, French and Spanish explorers became trade partners with the local tribes and built relationships with the Caddo, Choctaw, Cherokee, and Kickapoo Indians. The land around what is now Lake Bob Sandlin is now best known for farming, ranching, and recreation.
Outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, and camping are popular things to do at the state park. Boating, fishing, water skiing, and wake boarding are popular activities on the water. Lake Bob Sandlin has an abundant population of fish including largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie.
The area has a wide variety of wildlife and birds which makes for great wildlife viewing, photography, and bird watching. You can even see eagles around the lake during the winter season.
In 1977 Lake Bob Sandlin was impounded southwest of Mount Pleasant, Texas. The lake is 65 feet deep at its deepest point. The lake experiences water level changes of around two to three feet each year. The water is moderately clear with a visiability of two to four feet deep.
There are many real estate opportunities available around the lake including lakefront and lake view homes. Many homes feature docks and boat houses. The homes around the lake are generally considered to be second homes but some are occupied year round.
