TSA might ease liquid restrictions in 2009

I read over at USA Today that sometime in 2009 we will be able to carry liquids over 3 oz on planes sometime in the next year.  We would still have to remove our liquids from carry on bags at security checkpoints and put them through the machines separately.  By 2010, we should be able to keep liquids as we go through the checkpoints.

I have a lot of traveling in the last year, and I cannot wait for those changes to happen!

Well that’s good news! I always thought that it was a pretty dumb rule (almost as dumb as the taking off your shoes rule — I always wonder when was the last time they washed the floor!). I read somewhere though that these “rules” are more for the appearance of “security” than an actual expectation of effecting security. These little inconveniences are designed to remind the masses that the TSA is vigilant.

You know — I worry about the floor thing when I wear sandals and then realize once I am in the line that I have no socks on!

I can’t wait till this is gone. I usually can easily pack a carry on bag for my flights except for that stupid 3 oz rule. Plus, I love not having to wait in line to get my baggage.
