World Trade Center Site - New York

If you are in New York, this is one of the sites you need to see. It is a very humbling experience. It makes me quite sad to even think about us going there. You can’t get very close to where the actual Twin Towers were. However, they have these signs up. These first ones are all the names of the people who lost their lives:

Here are some other pictures that they have up there. It is pretty scary stuff.

The amazing thing is that there is a church and a cemetery across the street from here. Everything is still standing. However, the names and the dates on the headstones were blown off!

This is a site as an American you have to visit at least once. It is sad, but we must all remember what happened that day and all those who lost their lives. I am hoping the building they are putting in its place is bigger and better.

  1. As a former New Yorker and of course an American 9/11 still humbles me, brings me to tears and makes me proud to be an American all at once. I haven’t been back to see Ground Zero since 9/11. I have to be ready for it and believe it or not I still don’t think I am. Thanks for giving me a look at the progress so far though. I can handle seeing it from photos.

  2. Alexander Hamilton is buried in that graveyard. The Founding Father literally rolled in his grave. :S

My ancestors owned all that area of land, during the Dutch colonization of New York. Trinity Church survived almost unscathed, except for a tree that was uprooted. Interesting.
